Day trip to Lone
Fir Resort from the Portland and Vancouver area.
Take HWY. 14 East to Carson then North on Wind River HWY. RD. 30 ( You will see
a sign to wind river visitor information station about 10 mi. north of town if
you would like a map of the area. Return to Wind River HWY. and continue North)
Turn right at sign to Mt. St. Helens. If you continue on road and do not turn
you will go into the Trapper Creek Wilderness home of bigfoot and you will have
to turn back this road is not suitable for RV travel. Then on to HWY. 51 to HWY.
90 Look for sign to Cougar. on HWY. 90 you will find Eagles cliff General Store
your only out post till you get to cougar. In this area you will find
waterfalls, mushroom and Huckleberry picking you will be at the head of the
first of three Reservoirs Swift. then on to Cougar just follow the Signs. we
will be waiting for you at Lone Fir Resort . This route will tack about 2 Hr.
from Portland at a comfortable pace with out stopping long at any one place.

Carson: Antique, Carson hot Springs and wind river tree farm. North from Carson
you will find a Paved road suitable for RV travel all the way to Cougar with
Waterfalls , Rivers , Lakes and wildlife.
Coming west on 84 you will need to Cross at HOOD RIVER OR. and go west on
HWY. 14 to Carson then North. Follow day trip route. This area has snow in
